you can see me
and you can touch and feel me
you can even hear me and
smell me and taste me
with my salty sea-
blasted skin
you can identify me
by the smoothness of my head
or by the lilt of my tongue
by the ocean in my gaze
or by the brown spot
clinging to my arm
you can analyze me
when you observe my tears
and when my laughter makes you
stop up your ears
and when I rant and when I rave
and when I tell you things I shouldn't
but you can never be me
